It happened at the short, sharp rise before the flat leading to the State Park sprint. His chain popped and head over heels he hit the ditch. His leg looks a bit like yours. He survivied a lot of crashes, maybe even more than I did. From my experience the cause of crashes lurks one, two, or more rows up the group. The primary causers of bike accidents seldom crash themselves...just sayin' I don't hang way back there 'cause I'm lazy (at least that;s not the whole reason) I caught your balancing act for a long 20 seconds. Better acrobatic skill could have saved you. Try mentoring in a circus for a while. I wish there was a textbook out there to learn about riding skills, but the only thing that really works is experience and advice from others. You can work on bumping wheels in a grassy field with some buddies, but when it comes down to it, you just have to react as best you can when this happens out on the road.
