Noooooo! Not now!

Wednesday, February 16th, 2011

Yesterday I felt pretty tired. I chalked it up to getting to sleep a little later and having a packed work day that didn’t end until around 9 PM. This morning I woke up feeling a bit worse.

First thing I noticed was how heavy my body felt. Then I noticed the runny nose. That sensation was followed by feeling a pressure in my sinuses.

After getting up, drinking a cup of coffee, and taking a shower — things that normally take care of the sinus stuff, I wasn’t feeling any better. I don’t think I have a fever, but I do have a head ache and still feel heavy. Here is hoping its just allergies.

Sick as a dog

There is something going around. Quite a few students are out sick at the University. Two of my children were home sick a week ago, but was thinking I escaped that. I’m hoping it hasn’t caught up to me.

Now is not a good time for me to get sick. Saturday is the first race of the season. I was just starting to feel like I might be able to hang in there and get a finish. The motivation and belief was returning.

Best case scenario is that I just ate too much sugar yesterday. Second best scenario is that this is just allergies and my medicine will get me going again. Third scenario is that I have cold and I’ll be able to ride through it. Worse case is that I get the flu thing that is going around and end up being a big baby with a compress on my head.

What do you do when you feel something coming on?

When you do not want to be on a bike

I’m sitting in bed as I type this. Last night I woke up with a very bad feeling in my stomach and slept fitfully. Things kind of went downhill from there, and (how shall I say this…) I can’t go too far from the mother ship right now.

Not sure what it is. I did eat in two restaurants yesterday. It could simply be that I ate too much rich food and it is coming back to haunt me. Actually, that is what I thought at first.

Now, I’m wondering if perhaps I have a touch of the Norovirus. I say a touch because things don’t seem quite THAT bad. On the other hand, the “shared surfaces” at the pizza joint last night sure could have been breeding grounds!

The good news is that at its worse, it is the virus. At best it is “just something I ate.” Either way it shouldn’t last more than a day. I’m hoping I can be back at it for tomorrow’s workout. I’ve got to get ready for Saturday.
